Why this work

A note from the founder.

I grew up in New York City surrounded by communities that had access to a lot of things — except good healthcare and programs that actually worked. I watched families navigate illness that could have been prevented, skip doctor visits they couldn't afford, and make decisions about their children's health without the knowledge to make better ones — not because they didn't care, but because no one had ever taught them the science of staying well.

That's what sent me into public health — to understand the biology of disease, the psychology of human behavior, and the systems that determine who gets healthy and who doesn't.

I saw something else too: these same communities had almost no real connection between parents and their children's schools. Families who cared deeply, but who were left out of conversations that shaped their children's futures — including the ones about attendance, and the hidden academic toll of every missed school day.

Graduate school gave me the tools to build, evaluate, and lead the kinds of programs that could actually close those gaps. Today, my work brings that science back to the communities I came from — empowering parents with knowledge they were never given, strengthening the bond between families and schools, and making visible the cost of what goes unseen.

Because the people who shaped me deserve nothing less.
